Inspiration Tuesday - Illustration Obsession.

Lately I've been drawn into the lovely world of illustration side of pintrest, finding kooky creatures, and whimsy laden words I've gotten lost in the lovelieness of it all. I need to start filling my walls with prints of these artworks...I need a wall devoted to it in my house...let me take you away...

If i can track down the original artist, I link back otherwise all images found via pintrest.

This beautiful soft sad little character stole my heart. I adore her...and the fact that she is on a bookpage makes her most lovely.

a little tree character to make you smile! I see her walking through the forest making sure all the trees are happy, her leaves shaking when she laughs. so simple and yet so emotive.

from the amazing mind of Nathaniel Mather This is so cute! I saw it and had to include it in my picks for today's inspiration!
a girlfriend of mine loves boats, so I saw this and thought of her...traveling the ocean and the stars by boat..what better way to do some traveling.

I'll be back tomorrow with an I do Wedding Wednesday Post..and also will be posting some of my work I'm working on in the Mermaid Circus post..I didn't get Friday pages done as I was at my sickest with this cold thats holding on for dear life! so more art to come, I promise.

I hope you enjoyed a step into my world...and my love for illustration.

Get Your Art On - Day 8..backgrounds

Its almost midnight!!! but Im still in on time, with the boy here, my art time is replaced with with snuggles and laughter, but I told him 'I'm not failing art month! get comfy while I work on something' so he happily sat in bed with me as I worked on some of my background pages that will become digital downloads for my etsy store.

yes I know, not as awesome as yesterdays art! but its the process that counts right. I did draw another girl, but when I looked her over, she was part man I swear, so she didn't make it to the blog..and will be gessoed over tomorrow. unless I can save her..but man that's alot of saving!
ok I have a hot tea waiting for me, and a columbian boy in my bed..oh la la.
have a lovely evening whats left of it, and I'll see you tomorrow with something not so lame.

pop over to Traci's blog for her lovely art day post and please do stop by here tomorrow I wont be so boring with my art!
and a big hello to all my new followers! It was such a beautiful surprise to see all the lovely comments and new followers! I am humbled.

My Creative Space

Another Thursday is upon us, and after my trip down 'I'm Sick Lane' I am back in the game, with my trip to Sydney coming up fast, I want to make sure my 10 hour train ride isn't one that is going to make me want to scratch my eyes out with bordem, so I'm reviving and old box that I've had for quite a few years now, needs a few things fixed which I'm hoping my dad will help with, but it fits all the things I need, that I use day in day out....

As I've been sick lately, there hasn't been that much artwork going on! but before I got sick, I was working on my art mail, I have a few art pen pals, so I've been getting all their letters done for the post box on Monday, here is just one of the several I've already got finished.
Now all I have to do, is get a big A4 envelope and decorate that, half the fun of art mail isnt it...the brightly coloured crazy envelope in the mail

enjoy your thursday, and never stop the creative process...art saves.

Friday Pages...

I've decided that every friday, I will share with you pages from my current journal, or journals depending on what I get done through the week, I've been really enjoying playing in my hand bound one I showed off in the last entry, I am in the process of making my mum a cover for hers pretty much exactly as mine is.

So the moving in process was one of ease, with no limits, no expectations and a journal purely for my own fun, this has been a dream to work in, I open at any page and work on it, not doing things in order, just laying things down working back and forward.

playing with papers, watercolour washes, inks and paints I am creating a new world for myself between the pages, just as my life currently is all very new.

I'm enjoying trying to create little characters in my journal, working on my petite dolls using prisma coloured pencils and watercolour crayons... I spend my nights talking to my dear man, he reads the news... while I spread out on my bed with all my supplies, creating my own headlines.

I scoured the op shops yesterday, looking for old doilys with a bit of personality, to test out a little home made paint wash, using little makeup misters from the cheap shop, some water colour paints and water, and it worked a TREAT! These home made ones will do before I buy the colour washes from Tim Holtz.
I am enjoying the silence...inside my head today, its been a crazy few weeks mentally for me, dealing with some stuff, not dealing more to it lol, but this journal has really saved me, hopefully I can get my worries out in art form so they don't plague me instead.
enjoy your friday, tonight my man arrives for the weekend, so I shall laugh, kiss and art for the weekend...and enjoy the sunlight.
Blessed Be

escaped into a dream.

as I mentioned in previous posts, I was set for a getaway with boyfriend. Here are just some of the snapshots I took while I was away.

We stayed at the Lindsay house in Armidale, shopped till we dropped, snuggled, laughed held hands kissed and just enjoyed 3 days purely in eachothers company.
The room number, for some reason made me smile.

The entrance into the dining room, where the dinner menu stood, adorable foyer, filled with just the most devine furniture.

every morning breakfast was served, a selection of pastries, cereals, muselie, tea coffee toast and juices...all included in the price and the room in which you dined in, was just so delightful.

we spent our dinners in the same room, but next to the roaring fire, this was a huge highlight for both of us, him with his book, me with my knitting even after dinner we spent a little time in this room just enjoying the warmth a little chatter and some tea.

some of the furniture just took my breath away, I wanted to steal this away for my own house hehe, It gave the boy and I much to think about when filling our own house one day with a style we both love.
and for some reason my favourite image of my trip....leaving me with a school girl feeling. Mornings in bed laughing under the sheets as we talked about our future, the kids and life in general...it was a fantastic trip away. I was spoilt the entire time. I hope my man knows that this was a huge highlight in my life.

two blogs in one day! and I'm done till I get some crafty work done... working on a journal which I'll post about soon enough.

a day to look forward to!

The boyfriend is spoiling me this easter with a little getaway just after easter! to an adorable little Bed and Breakfast in Armidale. The Lindsay House is a little nook of beautiful hidden away, with old world charm and rose gardens. I cannot wait for our two night stay, we are booked into the Queen suit, feeling a little princessy at the moment just thinking about the the minibreak. I will be sure to take my cannon and video camera with me to capture the little road trip to see my dear friends, do a little winter clothes shopping and relax in vintage style.
Enjoy your Monday Morning!

Tis the season..right?

An so another year has slipped through our fingertips and the Man in red is getting his sleigh sorted, and I being the crazy little crafty elf that I am, am doing just that aswell. Crafters all around the globe are going slightly out of their minds as we attempt to impossible by making our gifts for loved ones. My list doesn't seem to be moving quite as fast ad I'd like to hope, but slow and steady...gets crap done.

My calender is in the spirit, a little festive cheer on my desk, keeping my handmade date keeper company is a gift my dear friend Emily bought over yesterday...She doesn't have a name yet but Im sure as she settle's in a name will spring to mind.

On the gift front...well my fingers are constantly making something, the the lovesick romantic in me, is working her way through something for her man. A girls heart...in paper.

I hope your Christmas shopping is going well! checking lists and wrapping gifts, tomorrow I think I shall spend the afternoon with my two little mischief elves and put up our tree.
Have a good night.
love Courtney xx

Tuesday, December 8, 2009

I have spent days in my art journal, with inked fingers, oohing and ahhing over my new pens, colour, paint all of it so familiar and yet so untouched for so long.
a little glimpse at what my hands have been working on.

Pages from my art journal, mixed media, from paint, to ink to oil pastels, magazine clippings my own drawings and alot of love.

a little bit of my history in my present.
something small and filled with love, to make my husband feel special. A mini book with tags and photos pockets and secrets......

and a little xmas cheer, not my work but they sure did inspire me to start making my Christmas cards this year.
enjoy the evening, and pick up your current projects and create until you have left this world!
