Friday Pages - Bursting with colour!

welcome to another friday of Fridays Pages, a collection of stuff I've been working on, so you guys can keep up with my bits and bobs!

I've been trying to work on my homework for mermaid circus, so alot of it based around that, actually looking over my images, all of it is related to that course lol.

getting some face work back into my journals, I've spent so long living in my nookdweller world that I'd not given faces much of a look! so it was time to start sketching and getting out my pencils and markers to make some faces!

My darling man took me to officeworks the other day so I could photocopy up a storm! including collage sheets by the lovely Teesha that she designed just for the course, and pages of my own stuff to start using for collage work...I re sized an image I did during one of Janes courses, to turn into my next mermaid in my book!

Week one had me cutting up a storm, I had such a fun time making this collaged beauty, I've never really collaged in the traditional sense, but I really enjoyed the process, one I think I'll incorporate into my work more often! something I can do while watching tv with the Mr.

Playing with my creatures, and some more facework, I'm really liking the general size of this journal, its a nice holding size when I'm sitting and drawing.

Friday Pages - What I'm working on.

Well it's Friday and that means one thing! Friday Pages...Showing off what I'm working on between the pages of my little art journal! 

 

playing with my art supplies on video this page still has a long way to go before shes finished, but I am enjoying the crazy mess that's coming together at the moment!

 

playing with little creatures in amongst the paint and ink! this little love popped up holding onto the heart.

 

altering photos is my upcoming artgeeks prompt! turning ourselves into whimsy creatures to give a little fun to our photos! I am currently waiting for a spare moment to myself to get some self portraits sorted so you can see what works for this technique! so simple, and yet so much fun! 

and using some of my spare photos that I'd printed out and just having fun with colour and tapes! They are so simple, and yet these are some of my fave pages, the background is using Gelli plate prints I'd done in the past!

Friday Pages

The week is over, and Friday is welcomed with open arms and a little sigh, Ive been taking notes and crazily writing things down as I start work on the wonderful task of creating my own little journals/notebooks for little budding artists and writers, trying to encourage little ones to put down the gameboy and pick up a pencil..to be excited by creating something.

So watch out for that!
and in the meanwhile, I've been working a little in my journals, nothing huge but still making sure I made the time to do a little work in them.

Just going over some old pages that have sat dormant in my big journal, unfinished pages that have kind of been a pet peeve to me, so the other night I sat on the couch with my pens and just played with colour and mark making. The above photo is some of my finished journals in my life held by my darling man, and a deer hehehe because we all know how much I adore them.

creating little random creatures in my journals as I gear up for my new classes over at Artgeeks! the students have been waiting so long for my classes to start up again, and since the kids start school and daycare next week I am back to having two full days to record edit and upload videos for them...so I'm getting the ideas flowing.

and working on my rabbit book.

just playing with ideas of my little odd ball girls and a cute little bunny, just playing really, its play that gets my idea going, and right now, I need a tonne of them! this one was done on a scrap bit of paper but turned out really lovely so I'll tip her into the rabbit book.

and of course the little white rabbit I drew one night that I fell in love with! he was the first to appear in the rabbit book, so simple in his colouring, a black biro, and a light grey copic marker and that's it! but I do adore him.

this girl in the above shot, I'm not a fan of her, I kept her because its all process and progress, I drew her on a scrap bit of dictionary paper, so instead of putting her in a dark scrap bin, she got pasted into the rabbit book.

Friday Pages.

It has been so very hot here the last few days, the heat sucks your creativity like a wilted flower!
I have been working on somethings, nothing ground breaking, but we must always create in order for new ideas to flow through us.
I have been working on my Scrappy journal that is a free class over on christy's ning site, I watched her videos drinking in every step as I usually do when Christy makes something fun and quirky...so I grabbed my glue stick and scrap bin and got to work.

here are some aspects of the pages I have developed from old drawings, to random odds and ends in my scrap tub.

my nook dwellers that I had drawn and discarded into the bin months ago, found new homes among these pages.

I have a bag of old postage stamps that finally had a use!
While I was making these, I decided I wanted to do some animal studies little journals filled with drawings and paintings of the one animal, then slowly turn them into a nook dweller, to give my hands that knowledge of an animals shape without using a reference. So I got some random junk together and make a little quick journal...my rabbit book.

just white cardstock and some old boxes that I cut down to size, little book binding thread and ta dah!

I even started drawing on the cover, which I may paint a little later...but I'm excited to go on this journey, to draw a multitude of animals till they tell me how they want to be drawn in dweller form.

after some tweaking, and a lot of unlady like swear words, I will be making some little handmade writing sets in the coming weeks...nothing like the above image, i was just seeing if I could do it myself, since finding a printer seems to be like finding a unicorn.

I am very excited.

Friday Pages

A hot and sticky Friday is upon us, and with it, that means Friday Pages. Where I share some of the things I've been working on between the pages of my journals.
above are some of the things you saw yesterday's post on being a better friend some art in my big girl journal which is slowly coming to completion!

 

and here are some of the pages I've completed, that I have shown on facebook and instagram but not on the blog itself.

 some bright and crazy pages from my little hand bag junk journal, this journal is hard to work in because its so crazy, but I'm enjoying the pages as they unfold to me.

I like blue haired girls, there is something magical about them.

i used alot of acrylic inks, paint, and some handmade foam stamps in the background of this page.

a little bit calmer page, featuring some of my photographs, some old red labels, the base of the page, is an old letter from Her Library Adventures.

I am currently toying with the idea of selling my art through a few various outlets, little bit more pondering needs to be had...would you be wiiling to purchase prints of mine..or maybe an iphone case, stickers...or a shirt?

Get Your Art On - Day 2

It's the end of day two for get your art on, and I've just gotten back from my parents place..family bbq with the boy and our tea cup humans. That doesn't mean I didn't get my art on! I packed my little Typo Tote with a few art supplies and my journal and off I went! Determined not to fail this month of art.

Instead of starting something new, I decided I would finish something instead. A few pages in my journal are in need of finishing, and because I'm an ADD journal page starter I have a few that require my attention.

so my lovely angel girl got pretty much finished, with some doily spraying, some stamping, some watercolours, prisma pencil here and there..the only thing missing is some text and a little bit of journalling, but I'll have to decide if it needs it yet.

please excuse the light, Its almost 8pm here, so I had to photograph in my hallway under my brightest light! You can see what she was before I added all the background work HERE

Friday Pages and Op Shopping

Another Friday, another week slipping past our clocks, I started it with a little op shopping, and I think I did well for a little quick in and out visit!

behold one of the oddest tablecloths I've found, but I loved the bright bursts of colour, like the squares couldnt conform any longer! they just had to break out in a wheel of colourful joy!

my little ones seem to go through face washers or flannels as they are known in my house very quickly, so I saw these little special hand crocheted ones and grabbed a few in different colours for their evening baths.

I picked this adorable little corning ware jug up for $1.00 thinking it was a cute water jug for the home, I got back in the car and my mum told me it was a coffee peculator for the stove! Well that made it twice as good! My darling man does enjoy a cup every now and again, as do I...so this was my fave find of the day...my mum tried to barter me for it, but alas I had to cheekily decline!
and now onto the stuff you visit my blog for! the art and the journal obsession! I've been working in a few journals lately, reading through blogs and things I found alot of art journal keepers seem to do this, so I thought I'd give it a ago... I have a handmade paper journal gifted to me a year ago that is going to become my modern photo journal- collaging photographs down with little tidbits I get all these photos printed and putting them into an album is just too straight line for me, so I started to get creative.

in the coming weeks, I will be releasing a few things into an esty store, including collage packs, filled with papers and cardstock for collage work, alot of them created by me with inks, sprays and paints...as well as some digital downloads of whole background pages created by me, if you want something budget friendly that you can print at your leisure, so keep an eye out for them...so my pages this week have been just that, backgrounds....hand stamped, hand inked, lots of pen work, and lots of love...I sit at night chatting away to the boy with my head down pen in my hand just enjoying the sound of pen to paper as I work on A4 pages to give you a little bit of me for your journals.


there is also a few other things in the works, but I shall keep that between the pages of my journal till I feel the time is right!!!
havent cleaned my house yet! so the video is on hold till I get up and make my little cottage a home again lol, my bed is covered with papers and pens there is hardly any room for me!

Friday Pages - Anahata Journal Pages

Since I've been flat out while I was away in Sydney as much as I wanted to create, I didn't get a single chance! I did however buy a few odds and ends which I will photograph tomorrow, and hopefully do a little art for you guys since I MISS IT!

I found this little blog by chance the other night and book marked it for inspiration and colour ideas! such beautiful delicious pages that have a mind of their own.

hopefully tomorrow I have a spare moment to myself to do a little art, test my new watercolour texters thats right yummyness to play with! I also bought a few new stencils, some glazing medium and some new background stamps! so excited!!!

Friday Pages - Rainbow Fantastica!

As promised, today is Friday, and another sneek peek at my Art journal, to see what I've been working on this week. Yesterday I got my art on, with my Mum , the best cure for a sad mood, is rainbows I'm SURE of it! So I started working, here, there..everywhere a little on this page a little on that, spraying, outlining covering in Gesso! Here are some of my progress pages...some may look finished but I know that I'll keep coming back to add little things, or shade the girls faces a bit...my challenge for myself at the current time, its to get across more emotion in my girls faces.a little background prep

this was a page I reworked alot, my girl didnt look right to me, so I changed alot about her, shes still in need of some more shading and tweaking, as does her opposing page.
I enjoyed alot of this today, and it was all that I needed to feel better.
the girl from my creative space post yesterday, getting a little more love as I add to her...still a bit more to go on her too I think! An Artist's job is never done.

That's all the pages I have been working on this week, which is more than I had yesterday! was a crazy week of non art till yesterday, but I'm very glad I got some time to just play in my journal...also I will be posting this weeks Time Lapse Art Vid, so please be sure to check that out!

My Creative Space : Inky Bed Play

A Thursday where the skies are grey and the day is rather chilly, I'm sat on my bed with my journal, with the kids at kindy for the day, I've just breathed a sigh of relief at the quiet and had some fun with colours I don't usually use together, and I'm adoring them now!

I haven't played in my journal all week, so this was a welcome moment...I always forget how much creating in my journal calms me down to all the motherly life stressers, but as soon as my pencil hits that page...the stress blurs and there is just me and that page. It is truly bliss.




using muslin as my brush cleaner between colours...which I will then cut up to use in my artwork once I think its got enough soul...

on the other creative front, with my trip to Sydney on Tuesday I want a nice chunky wrap around knitted item...so Im knitting the pattern The Grey Loop and if you can't get access Ravelry and want to check the pattern out pop over here I however twisted mine and I'd knitted 10 rows or so before I discovered! so I chucked a small knitters tanty and went MEH! it will be twisted around my neck, who cares!!! and kept knitting hehe

Friday Pages - Art Journal Play

Another Friday is upon us! and with that, more pages from my Art journal, I'm losing a little steam in the ole' journal department, I think maybe its because I'm not pushing myself hard enough, trying to get out of the box, so that is next weeks challenge, to come up with new ways to journal, that I've not tested before.
I worked on some sketches then glued them down to give them life - there was a video of this, but imovie cracked a tantrum! so looks like no video till Tuesday when I'm kid free again. Sorry my dears.


I wasn't very happy how the entire page turned out, and I think her hair is a little too big lol. I might even work back over her, gesso out what I dont like and start again....we shall see.

in this spread I played with some stamping, and some watercolour paints in tubes, using a baby wipe and just staining the paper with it, I really liked how it came out, so that will be somehthing I do alot more I think.
and a page I haven't journalled on yet but I really like this, so simple, just a bit of paint glue, designer paper and some gesso, the girl used watercolour crayons, graphite, and a little stamping like I said simple.

and a work in progress...image transfer from an old encyclopedia didn't take, the ink mustn't lend itself to transference so I'll find that little mess with something, not sure what...you shall find out next week.

and there you have it, those are the pages I worked on during my spare time, a little of this a little of that, maybe next week I'll have some totally new things to show you, if my challenge for myself actually is that, out of the box journalling!
